First let’s get to know about the early life and Papacy reign of Pope Clement I.
Pope Clement I was born in Roman Italy as Circa 35 AD and was known as Clemens after birth, he grew up in the Roman Empire under Pope Linus who trusted him very much.
It was known that Pope Saint Linus apparently handpicked and appointed, Clement who took the name upon his papacy as the next Pope and leader of the Catholic Church.

So after the death of Linus, the church however appointed Pope Anacletus as Pope and he reigned for just a few years before his death.
Many records noted clement as the 3rd Pope in history of papacy after Peter where historians identified him as an emancipated slave which many believe is a mistake now.
Like every other Pope who ruled, Pope Clement was known to have set the leadership order of the Catholic Church at the early days where he in 96 AD travelled to Corinth and establish rules that the bishops as the overseers of the church and will rule the local church and also the elders of the church with roles but never establishment his role in the church or position of the Pope’s.
Pope Clement reign for more than 11 years and was known as Saint Clement and was a martyr for the Church. Another noted event in Clement’s reign was his banishment to Chersonesus by Emperor Trajan although this was just a claim.
It was in Chersonesus that was an ancient colony in Greece that later became part of Ukraine that he experienced his first miracle of giving the prisoners who were about to die of thirst water.
His Miracle Explained
As per the story, Clement arrived in Chersonesus to find prisoners dying of dehydration and we immediately began to scout for water when he saw a small lamb standing on top of a hill.
Clement followed the lamb and arrived where the lamb stood and struck an ax in the ground which released a clear and steady stream of drinking water.
History tells us that the prisoner converted to Christianity and this miracle was his last miracle as he soon die.
Clement was made Martyr in the church after the emperor sent him onto the Black Sea and tied to a heavy anchor and orders the people on the boat to throw him overboard and waited until he died.
If you must know, his relics and bones are still in the area of this event of were he was killed in the Black Sea after being banished from Rome and Pope saint Evaristus succeeded Clement as Leader of the church.
